I managed the design of the Texas Edition and worked closely with outside specialized shops and contractors from ideation sketches to final delivery.
Two natural products, leather and wood (through color, pattern and finish) offer an exceptional work medium for a designer, with an infinite number of choices and combinations. The warmth of the toolbox, made using these two materials, contrasts the coolness of the metal and plastic of the pickup truck box and the metal horse tools contained in its drawers.
The toolbox required the employment of a highly qualified craftsman, was made of solid wood (no plywood) and presented numerous challenges like very low moving parts tolerances, perfect parts fit, gaps on the corner and a wood finish emulating old wooden surfaces faded by the sun and rain, one can see throughout Texas Plaines. The Texas Edition logos on the leather reflect hot iron branding.
The interior of the vehicle was completely resurfaced, using a warm color and smooth
surface leather, instilling a feel of comfort and relaxation, being contrasted by
